How Numio works
Numio connects to your cloud and AI accounts through read-only roles and runs a continuous loop of observation, evaluation, and action.

Attribution
Everything Numio does — budgets, anomaly routing, cleanup campaigns, guarded automation — depends on knowing what each dollar of Cloud and AI belongs to. That starts with tagging. Numio can read your attribution plan and build your personalized attribution layer: attributes, teams, projects, business priorities, strategic moves.
Action
As new resources are created every day, ownership changes and projects change name. Numio checks every resource against your tagging policy daily, notifies the likely owner with context and prompts her for action. It is not needed any more to read reports and assign tasks. Numio does proactively that work.
Campaigns
Numio clusters violations by the parameters you select — type, cost, and impact. Campaigns are meant to close gaps in visibility, address waste of resources, or other goals. Numio works on every campaign involving resource owners, tracks progress, and reports results to leadership. This is structured operational work that dashboards do not do.
Observe, evaluate, act — continuously
01
Observe
Numio collects cost, usage, and tagging data from every connected provider or at the LLMGateway through scoped, read-only access.
What Numio collects
- •Billing and usage records at line-item level
- •Resource metadata and tagging status
- •Organizational structure: accounts, projects, cost centers
- •AI-specific metrics: token counts, inference volumes, GPU utilization
02
Evaluate
Every observation is checked against your budgets, policies, and tagging rules.
Each finding includes
- •What triggered it — anomaly, threshold breach, or policy violation
- •Which budget or rule applies
- •Projected financial impact
- •Who owns the affected resource
- •The recommended next step
03
Act
Actions range from notification to the resource owner, to guarded automated actions. Default is human review.
Available actions
- •Alert the right people via dashboard, email, Slack, or webhook
- •Open a ticket or route the issue to the resource owner
- •Suggest remediation with a concrete action plan
- •Execute automatically for low-risk actions you have explicitly approved
Action types
Every proposed or automated action is classified into one of four tiers as you decide, by environment, resource type, or type of action.
Inform
Numio detects an issue, explains it, and notifies the relevant people. No action is taken automatically.
Recommend
Numio proposes a concrete remediation plan with projected savings or impact, routed to the right owner. A human reviews and decides.
Execute within guardrails
For action types you have explicitly enabled — typically low risk and impact — Numio can act within defined limits: orphaned resource cleanup, tag enforcement on new deployments, pausing idle non-production instances. Every execution is logged.
Escalate
High-impact or ambiguous changes are never automated. Numio flags them with context and a recommendation, and routes them to a human for approval. Production changes and large-scale modifications always fall into this tier. Numio learns from human decisions and provides better recommendations over time.
You decide which action type is used in each situation. Production typically remains in Inform-only mode while development or staging allows guarded execution. Lower-risk actions move faster; sensitive ones stay under human control.
Trust, by design
01
Least-privilege by default
Numio connects through scoped permissions that match the actions you allow. Access is auditable and aligned with your governance model. Read-only is the starting point; write access is granted per action type, only where you have explicitly enabled automation.
02
You decide where automation begins
Numio starts in observe and notify-only mode. You choose which policies remain advisory and which actions can run automatically — by environment, by use case, at your pace.
03
Every decision is explainable
Every recommendation and action is explained with its inputs, the policy behind it, projected impact, and responsible owner. Nothing is a black box. Teams can review, approve, and refine the system over time.
